Title: Matching Equation for Multiple Subdomain Solution of BVP in ODEs

Abstract:

Boundary Value Problems (BVP) in ODEs are frequently solved as initial value problems and using shooting methods. Often, this and other approaches have a severe limitation, and to solve the problem the domain is cut into smaller domains and so-called multiple shooting must be used. Using this approach, to solve a system of n differential equations and if using m subdomains, one needs to find roots of nm equations by iteration.

In this new approach, a simple formula is derived to analytically match the subdomain solutions. Several well known test problems involving 2-nd order BVPs are solved for illustration.
