Admissions
The Mathematics Department offers the Master of Science and the Doctor of Philosophy degrees.
Conferral of a graduate degree requires at least a B (3.0) grade-point average (g.p.a.) both in courses taken towards satisfying the degree requirements as well as in all graduate courses taken at Ohio University. Students whose overall g.p.a. stays below 3.0 in three consecutive quarters will be dropped from the program.
TOEFL: The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required for applicants from countries where the first language is not English. Applicants must score a minimum of 550 on the paper-based TOEFL or 79 on the internet-based TOEFL.
GRE: The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is optional, but applicants are encouraged to submit their GRE scores if available.
A statement of purpose should be included in the application materials.
The deadline for applications for fall quarter admission and consideration for financial aid for the entire academic year is February 1.
