When flat covers of pure-injective modules are pure-injective

Abstract: In the light of the recently confirmed flat
cover conjecture
the question of what properties are preserved by taking
flat covers
appears as very natural. An instance of this is the situation
given in the
title, which I will prove to take place exactly when,
dually,
pure-injective envelopes of flat modules are flat (a
situation that has
previously caught the attention of model theorists).
