COURSE CONTENT:

Introduction to mathematical reasoning and discrete structures with applications to analysis of algorithms and other problems in computer science.

TEXTBOOK:

Discrete Mathematics with Applications, by Susanna S. Epp, third edition.

PREREQUISITES:

CS240A for undergraduates.

GRADING:

There will be three quizzes worth 8% each, two tests worth 20% each, and a final exam worth 36% of your final mark. The quizzes and the tests (normally) will be at class time.

Final grades will be determined from the following scale: 85+  A,  70+  B,  55+  C,  40+  D.

CHEATING:

Don't. The penalty may be an F for the course.

ATTENDANCE:

Strongly recommended.

HOMEWORK:

The homework assignments will be posted at http://www.math.ohiou.edu/~vardges/cs300/homework.html.
Homework assignments will not be collected and graded, but you will be responsible for quiz and test items similar to homework problems, and some of the problems on the tests and quizzes may literally be the homework problems previously assigned to you.
